At the Weeping Buddha Fountain, You will see the orrery, a mechanical model of the solar system. The orrery is locked into a strange orbit, the Earth at its heart rather than the sun. Now if you look to the right you will see a weather vane, and the observant will notice something odd about the cardinal points. North and South are flipped. It is hard to feel steady.  Atop the weather vane perches an orca. It is more than a tool to read the wind. The San Francisco Bay was badly polluted for a long time, until the people of the city cleaned the filth from the water. And, half a century later, dolphins play in the golden gate. 

The orca sitting atop the weather vane came home.  Let’s look at the fountain. There was once a man born into royalty who spent his early life sheltered from suffering. But, the world being what it is, the man eventually saw suffering, and it broke his heart. He renounced his royalty, his possessions, and walked the world, searching for meaning. He walked in the mountains and by the sea, through forests and deserts, and met many people, and saw many things. It is said that he found meaning, but we won’t know until we find it ourselves.
