THE LION'S COURAGE
What do lions know of courage? They have teeth and claws so sharp they bring down giants. What could possibly frighten them enough to force bravery? It takes a while to understand, watching them on the open Savannah, but when a pack of hyenas surround a cub, you feel a gnawing realization. And the lion king roars and snarls, racing in, ears pinned back, and the hyenas nip at him too, cackling with mad laughter as he defends the child. He walks away limping. The cub is unharmed and, after a moment or two, pounces on its father’s tail. The king of beasts stops licking his wounds and rolls onto his back, paws extended, and wrestles with his cub until the cub grows tired and falls asleep between its father’s great paws.
What did you do today that was brave?
